A Fun Illustration the Law of Inertia
Just like the pulling a tablecloth out from under a fully set table, this demonstration shows that a body at rest tends to remain at rest. A metal ball rests on top of a card in a stand. When a spring, beside the stand, is flipped, It knocks the card out from under the ball. The ball dops straight down into the stand, clearly demonstrating that the force of friction between the ball and card is not enough to move the ball.
