Cryophorus
Illustrate Crystal Formation
The Cryophorus consists of a glass tube with a bulb on each end containing water and water vapor. As you place the lower bulb in a mixture of dry ice and alcohol, students witness how the sudden cold makes the water vapor condense into ice crystals. When you project light through the tube, rapidly-forming frost patterns are revealed. Use polarized light to see an especially colorful display! Cannot be shipped during freezing weather.
